4.25″ Mud Bug
The Mud Bug was designed in early 2013 by RAZOR BAITS founder/owner Jim Lanza and quickly became a bass-producing bait. It is credited with catching the Big Bass at the 2013 James River Bassmaster Open and was the primary bait used for the First Place finish in the 2013 NY BASS Federation on Lake Champlain, NY.
The Mud Bug overall measurements are 4 1/4″ long, 1″ wide and 7/16″ thick to handle up to a 5/0 wide gap hook. The 2 claws/tails are each 1 1/2″ long, 3/4″ wide and 1/8″ thick, and the slightest movement of the baits causes them to have an erratic action that drives bass crazy.
The primary design was for flipping/pitching but there as several ways to fish this bait. It can be Texas rigged weighted or unweighted, and retrieved in a steady subsurface motion, twitching/jerking motion, stop and go motion, by dead sticking, or ran across the surface unweighted. It can also be used as a jig trailer.
Its tapered design makes it less likely to be fouled by weeds or grass and it can easily be fished in some of the thickest stuff you can find. The slightest movement of the bait causes it to have a fluttering motion of the claws/tails and a flapping motion of the side flappers.
The 4.25″ Mud Bug is heavily scented with the “JUICE” garlic scent which is specially formulated for RAZOR BAITS by JB’s Fish Sauce of Minnetonka, MN.
*CANDY BUG and RED BUG are bleeding colours. This means that if you store Candy Bug or Red Bug coloured baits with any other coloured bait, where the Candy Bug or Red Bug coloured bait touches the other baits, the Candy Bug or Red Bug coloured bait will cause the other coloured baits to discolour with a reddish transfer.
The Mud Bug comes packaged 6 baits to a bag.
