Mythron Trading is an importer and distributor of sporting and outdoor goods, based in Johannesburg and serving essentially the entire Southern African region. We were established in 2010 as a small operation selling a few Maxel reels out of the house, and since then we have grown in leaps and bounds. Through hard work and commitment, we have taken Maxel, which was at the time an unknown brand in South Africa, to the point where you will now be hard pressed to find an angler who has not heard of it – and in the process we have subsequently expanded our range into the greater tackle and outdoors sector.

Gary Myburgh, the founder and owner of Mythron, is himself a passionate angler with over 40 years’ experience in the field. He is actively involved in sourcing, developing, and testing products before making them available to dealers. He also works very closely with our suppliers and has active input in the development of several of our products – for example, the design of the Maxel Cape Point Special reel. This input and dedication is what ensures that you are getting superior quality products, every time.
